You just have to have faith that your LUT actually loads and will be applied. So if you are trying to batch process lots of footage with Media Encoder you can. So my queue is not running in the background while I write this. So I press on and do a test render and it does indeed work. They are aware of user frustrations due to this problem… I found this comment by an Adobe Admin from Ma– over 2 years ago!!! – claiming that the LUT is indeed loaded and we can indeed do what we are trying to do. Adobe you are so very good at this, a bug is identified, people post about it, complain about it, learn workarounds to it, and nothing actually gets fixed. Great, yet LONG TERM ANOTHER ADOBE BUG that is unresolved. Irritated, I turn to Google and find multiple references to this over the last 5 years or so.
I try copying my LUT to the folder with the Media Encoder application and load it from there, still nothing. Rather it looks like NO LUT has been added. If you are not exporting to H.264, or if the issue persists: C hoose File > Project Settings > General. It should be that simple right!? Well, it’s not. Go to Preferences > Media and deselect Enable hardware accelerated decoding (requires restart). I do that and then click to close that dialog box. I need a simple SLOG 3 to REC709 LUT, something Adobe doesn’t include. You have to click the select choice at the top to load your own LUT. No matter what the user wants only give them what Adobe thinks they need. Note here that no matter what you may have added to all the Lumetri folders in Media Encoder they will NOT show up here. So I thought Media Encoder could get some of this done, I can add a LUT but not tweak the color.
In Premiere it would be a tedious task to do them 1 at a time as I did not want to give the editor groups of clips as I know he is using proxies based on the raw video files. Adobe does have a long history of making these smaller programs that just vanish… But it no longer appears in my available downloads. I thought maybe I can do this in Prelude. The attraction was that I can setup a batch process for all the clips with a LUT and also do quick tweaks to the color grade and render it all out in an automated process. I actually first thought of working with Sony Catalyst. So I thought I would also process all the b-roll I shot, just a quick batch process by adding a REC709 LUT to my SLOG3 footage. But to help the editor am processing the interviews by color grading them and tweaking the audio. I am the DP on this one so I do not have ot edit. I have been working on a half hour documentary the last several weeks. I found references to this all the way back to 2017… Yet it has not been fixed yet…
